I’m super excited to blog this update, though I didn’t get the time to post about all the amazing stuff it has to offer.
I would take this opportunity to tell you how awesome this new device is, with its social capabilities and a combo of windows phone 7 & zune engine at the back, but the official kin website does it in way cooler way. So head over to the site and set your stop watches to May 6th, 2010 for pre-order over the air.
My personal favorite is the Kin Two. There is however, something I want to let out at Microsoft.
See, the Kin is supposed to be about being social, always connected and sharing stuff at the touch of a button, but its also supposed to be a full-time multimedia player with that HD camera and Zune engine in the background. Wouldn’t it be sensible to launch the device ‘without’ any carrier contract? I mean, what’s Zune got to do with Verizon?

we all heard about the catastrophe’ the Y2K bug brought at the turn of the millennium. it seems that a similar bug has hit Zune30s around the world today.
at exactly 12:00am, 1st January 2009, Zune30s (1st gen) stopped working! the problem is so widespread that CNN covered it within minutes of the problem first being reported. internet forums around the world are being flooded with Zuners complaining and reporting the problem.
i too, am a victim of the same problem. as i booted up my device for some midnight listening while putting up the previous post (below), my device froze at the bootup screen much to my horror.
since this is a surprise for users, many frustrated Zuners have started flooding microsoft with complaints.
although its been just a couple of hours, microsoft has issued this press note on the zune.net website.
let’s hope microsoft releases a fix for this bug soon. i will definitely cover the fix process here so keep on the lookout if you’re a zuner like me.
here is a picture of my zune stuck at the boot screen:

Update: there seems to be a fix for the problem:
- Let your zune drain out of battery (this may take a while if you had full charge)
- Do not connect your zune to the computer or AC charger till after noon on 1st January 2009 GMT time.
- Charge your zune normally and it should work fine.
I still have to wait around 8 hours till I charge it up again, so fingers crossed!

Update 2: tried the above procedure and my zune works ok, so i’m guessing the problem must have gone for every zuner out there.
