Siri is the most anticipated feature on the iPhone 4S. It’s sleek UI and intelligent voice controls have already won the hearts of iPhone users around the world.

However, the most under-rated fact about Siri is that it is functional only in the US region. This means that if you ask Siri for weather, or the route to the nearest coffee shop anywhere outside US, you’d be gravely disappointed.

In this article, we present the 2 top voice command apps that will help you do most of the Siri coolness, with the bonus that they work all around the world.

1. Dragon Go! is an application that hears what you say and delivers the results you want within seconds! Dragon Go delivers the most relevant content based on your request, and pulls various websites depending on the statement made – such as Fandango for movie showtimes and trailers, Accuweather.com for local weather updates, Pandora® internet radio, and Yelp for local reviews, recommendations and more! You can also share your Dragon Go! results via an easy-to-use pop-up toolbar featuring link share options across email, text messages, Facebook and Twitter.

Featuring the dynamic Dragon Carousel™, Dragon Go! not only delivers you to the best mobile web site featuring what you want, it also delivers complementary results that enable you to slide the carousel from side-to-side to compare information across the most relevant sites for your Dragon Go! request.

Dragon Go also allows you to type in your request, for those places where you’d rather stay quite! Available for iPhone 4 and 3GS.

Pros: Sliding-tabs (“carousel”) interface. Make full use of those applications installed on your iPhone,

Cons: Only iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS are supported, no older version of iPhone. Doesn’t allow you to customize the carousel tabs.

2. Vlingo is a voice assistant for iPhone, arguably rumored as the original application in voice service for phone. It’s free to install. With this Siri-like voice assistant, you can do a lot on your iPhone 4 only by speaking. You can:

Post updates to Facebook and Twitter
Run a Web search
Look up destinations on a map
Place a call
Compose and send e-mail and text messages

Pros: Both American and U.K. English can be recognized.

Cons: Showed accuracy issues sometimes.

Well, even though these apps might not be as impressive as Siri, but the fact that they are not region dependent, you’d be better off anyway. To close it out, here’s a brief comparison chart. Since these apps are free, we encourage you to try them out.

One Response so far.

Has Apple pulled the Dragon go! app? I can’t find it on the app-store on my 3GS (but can find it on a web browser on my desktop that doesn’t have iTunes on it)
